Happy Halloween

Here are some pictures from Kenny’s 1st Halloween in 2004.  He was 6 months old.  I had to scan these pictures in with our dying scanner so they’re not the best.
Me and my little pumpkin

Maddie, Kenny and Casey

Yes, we are that family who dresses up their dogs.  I thought about buying Mac a costume this [...]

I voted

Eric and I went and did the advance voting today.  I’m so glad we’re done.  I don’t know about everyone else, but I can’t wait for this election to be over.
Maddie news:  The test results came back and she does not have Addison’s disease (yeah!).  She had some weird, nasty gastro-thing.  She’s at home now and [...]

I’m fired (as our pumpkin carver)!

Over the years I’ve somehow turned in to our official pumpkin carver.  I’m usually pretty good at it.  But this year, my pumpkins were horrible.  Eric, next year I’m passing the position over to you.
Kenny wanted a ghost pumpkin and a bat one.  I made the mistake of carving the outline of the ghost first so when [...]

Like father, like daughter (and Annie too)

Dad, this one is for you.
We used to hang up this 1970-something picture of my dad on the refrigerator b/c he had this big ol’ fro that we thought was so funny.  I finally did Yearbook Yourself, where you put your face on hairstyles from different years.  The afro one was my favorite.  Annie, I did [...]

Addison’s disease

Dr. Gates (our vet) is pretty sure that our Westie, Maddie, has Addison’s disease.  I guess it’s a genetic disorder where the body doesn’t produce enough cortisol.  That means she’ll be on cortisone shots or (hopefully) pills for now on.  Poor baby.  My mom and I went to see her today (she’ll be at the [...]

What could be better than a giveaway?

Nicole is having another giveaway.  Her friend started a new Etsy store and she has donated an adorable half apron for someone to win.  Go here for directions on how to be entered in the drawing.  I’m not entering since I won the last giveaway…good luck to everyone who does!

Luke – 18 month checkup

Luke had his 18 month checkup today.  There is a shortage on the shot he was scheduled to get so the only one he got today was a flu shot.  The rest of his appointment went well.   The only thing out of the ordinary is that he’s going to have to start taking a stool softener.  I swear it seems [...]

Boring

I am one run short of finishing my C25k program and I have to tell you, I am so bored.  Really, really bored.  I know it would help if I switched up my route but I like it.  It’s fairly flat and I’ve done it so much that I pretty much know where I am at [...]

Luke or Lucy?

Eric is going to love this one.
Yesterday afternoon I found Luke in the family room wearing this…

Maybe we should have named him Lucy instead.  Or maybe it means that I’ve been wearing that elastic headband way too much.

Anyone?

I’m thinking of getting Luke some type of kitchen play set for Christmas.  There are a few of them that I’m looking at.  If any of you have these, would you please let me know how you like them (I realize that I may not get any replies).  My only requirements are that they don’t take [...]

Pool pics

Here are some pictures of the boys swimming yesterday.  Luke and I played in the pool while Kenny had his swimming lessons.  Kenny is doing great in his new class.  They started learning the elementary backstroke yesterday and he’s got the arm movements down pat.

A-b-c-d-e-f-g

I was finally able to get a video of Luke humming his A-B-C’s.  He usually turns mute as soon as he sees the camera or video camera.  Luckily I was able to get about 30 seconds of him humming before he remembered that I was taping him.

And that loud hum that comes in at the [...]

The pumpkin patch

Warning:  Lots and lots of pictures.
We made it out to the pumpkin patch today.  It almost didn’t happen b/c it rained for the first half of the day.  Luckily, the sky cleared up around 1:30 so after Luke woke up from his nap, we jumped in the car and headed out to Liberty.  Last year I took [...]

So many choices…

You know it’s going to be a good day when you wake up and find that you’ve won a (really good) contest!  I won Nicole’s blogiversary contest, which was for a $15 credit to Less Ordinary Designs.  If you haven’t been to Sara’s site, you need to.  Her stuff is ridiculously cute.  I would have [...]

Works-for-me Wednesday – Calendars

Make Your Own Calendar

For the last few years I’ve made my own calendars through Shutterfly.  I’ve tried doing calendars at other places and sites but Shutterfly is by far my favorite.  I absolutely love them.  You make the calendars on-line through their website.  You pick the type of calendar you want to do and then figure out a theme [...]

Brotherly love

As Kenny said last night, “Luke’s a hitter and a screamer and a crier and a happy baby.”  That’s my Luke.
Luke has been head butting Kenny for the last minute with an occasional slap thrown in there.  They’re both laughing so I think I’ll stay out of this one.  I say that, knowing full well [...]

Eez

While Kenny was at school today, Luke and I played outside.  I started taking pictures of him playing in the leaves.  Every time I took his picture I had him say “cheese” which turned out more like “eez”.  I tried to get pictures of him doing other things but every time I told him to say [...]

If you give a cat a cupcake

Laura Numeroff, the author of all the If You Give A…books is coming to do a reading of her latest book If You Give a Cat a Cupcake at Kenny’s preschool.  You can buy any of her books and have her personalize/autograph it the way you want.  Let me know if any of you would like a copy/autograph.  I [...]

I’m so excited

Eric is finally coming home today!  He and the rest of the SWAT team left on Sunday to go to a training school up in Des Moine.  I usually dread these trips.  It’s hard being home alone with the kids.  But honestly, we had so much going on that the time went by really fast.  I [...]

Loved it

Kenny and I went to see The Lion King last night at the Music Hall.  It was AMAZING!  It wasn’t my favorite Disney movie but it was unreal how they played it out.  The costumes and visuals were the best part.  There was always something to look at and something to wonder over.  If it is playing in your area, you [...]
