His first 5k could have been summed up by this picture
He did a really good job but for some reason right before the race started he decided that he wanted to do it with Eric, who was running (so that wasn’t going to happen). Then, he would randomly cry for daddy throughout the race. I’m [...]
Apparently I am.
Kenny and Luke were playing legos and I overheard Kenny say, “No, Luke, I get to be mommy because she’s the boss of the house.”
Eric is going to love that.
Kenny had a Thanksgiving feast at school today. The kids dressed up in their Indian gear and ate a lot of turkey, ham, muffins, popcorn and fruit.

This was one of Kenny’s homework assignments. We had to work together to disguise our turkey so he would be safe on Thanksgiving Day. We turned ours [...]
Guess who going to do the 5k now - Kenny. He’s going to walk with me (after I was sick for so long, I’m not ready to run the whole thing). We did 2.55 miles today in 47 minutes. So, I think we’ll finish right around 55 minutes (but hopefully we’ll go faster).
Don’t worry about waiting [...]
Our Christmas tree is up and the inside of our house is decorated for the holidays. I didn’t take out as many decorations as usual. I figure that less is best (or safer) this year with Luke and Mac running wild in the house.
Can you believe it? I got a picture where they are both smiling.
Luke’s quote of the day: “You do it again and you go in time out.”
Can you tell where he’s been a lot lately?
We’re going through this lovely stage with Luke right now, full of now’s and sassing. I’m not talking about the sweet little “Mommy, can I get down now” type phase, I’m talking about the [...]
My friend Brook met us in downtown Overland Park yesterday to take some fall pictures of the boys. She takes amazing pictures so when she offered to do it (for free!), I immediately said yes. She got some amazing pictures and I got to learn some of her photography tricks. Thank you Brook!
Here’s a sneak peek of [...]
When all the talk of the H1N1 virus started, I had no plans to get myself or my kids vaccinated. I knew the symptoms of H1N1 could be bad but I wasn’t sold on the safety of the actual shot.
But, then Kenny’s school district sent out a permission slip for free H1N1 shots for any kids [...]
This Halloween was a lot of fun because #1, I didn’t have to carve our pumpkin and #2 Luke really got it. Luke had so much fun going up to the different houses and saying yelling “trick or treat”. He and I went with Eric and Kenny almost all the way around the block and then [...]
Kenny’s class had their Halloween party today. I’m one of the room moms so Luke and I helped out. We had an hour to dress the kids in their costumes, do a parade through all the different classrooms (since they’ll miss the actual parade this afternoon), do 2 projects and finally eat some yummy treats. [...]
Just out in time for Halloween…
Finding Nemo and the Ghost
By Kenny
“Where’s Nemo? ” said Marlin.
Dory said, “Look, that says Sydney.”
Marlin said, “But by the sign has a ghost.”
But the ghost was nice.
The ghost invited them to a party.
Inside were more ghosts.
Now they could find Nemo.
My dad took on the *fun* job of carving our pumpkin this year.
Here are the guys deciding on their course of action. Kenny wanted the pumpkin to have a nose, a toothy smile, 2 eyebrows and 3 eyes.
Luke wanted his hands washed as soon as he touched the pumpkin guts.
The three guys and the finished product.
Thanks Dad! [...]
Kenny had his last soccer game today. I really can’t say that I mind too much, considering how cold it has been lately. We’re having lunch with the team tomorrow and then we’ll all go our separate ways.
Kenny starts basketball at the end of November. He’s doing it with his friend J.T. (from preschool) for sure and [...]
Eric coaches for a swim team 2 nights a week. One of the perks he gets for coaching is free swimming lessons for our kids. We started Kenny up last week and then both boys swam yesterday, Kenny, with an instructor, and Luke, with Eric. I’m hoping that Kenny will be ready for the pre-competitive swim team [...]
My mom and I took the boys out to the Weston Red Barn Farm today to pick out some pumpkins. We loved this pumpkin patch. It didn’t have as many extras (trains, etc) as some of the other ones we’ve been to but the people who ran it were really nice and there was still a lot [...]
In the past few days, I’ve come up with a few gift ideas for the boys.
For Kenny:
- a magic kit. A friend suggested this. I’m going to have to look into these and see if I can find one that’s fairly simple but not so simple that he’d use it once and never look at again (aka a waste [...]
I know it’s early but I usually try to start thinking about Christmas gifts around this time of the year. I’ve usually got some good ideas but this year, I’ve got nothin’ in terms of the boys. Kenny loves Legos but I think he has enough to last him a few years and Luke has [...]
